Even when Balboa Park is crowded you can still take a secluded walk on three paths with no one around. And did you know there are nine spots you can drink beer or wine openly in the park?
Timing: Sunset light makes for great photos if you’re partner’s into that kinda thing. And sunrise over the mountains to the east from the Desert Garden is quite the sight if you’re extra ambitious!
El Prado restaurant is the closest great date spot we recommend, with Happy Hour from 4-6pm Tuesday through Friday (patio recommended).
There’s also Panama 66
And there is “Food Truck Fridays” from 4-8:30pm where many different food trucks show up in the main plaza in front of the Art Museum.
